This kit represents the application of the score card method to Successful farming. It includes the January 1919 issue of Successful farming, several copies of blank score cards, and documented evaluations of Successful farming relative to the categories on the score card including editorial strength; special features; editorial policy; special services for subscribers; extent of reader audience; special services for advertisers; staff organization; typography, etc. Copies of several ancillary Meredith publications are included with the test results: the Dec. 1918 issue of Rural Schools Bulletin, a pamphlet about bringing up farm children called Junior Soldiers of the Soil; a pamphlet discussing the company's circulation methods titled Minus Camouflage : Selling Service to Subscribers; the October 1918 issue of Building Trade with Farmers : an Advertising Service for Country Newspapers; the September 1918 issue of Merchandising Advertising : a Service for Salesmen Showing How to Make Farm Paper Advertising Produce Sales; the pamphlet Successfully Selling Dairy Machinery; and a list of prominent advertisers using space in Successful farming. Included in the evaluation are pictures of many of the Meredith staff members.
